Nvidia’s reported Hugging Face deal links chips, models and cloud distribution

Nvidia has reportedly agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, according to The Information, while Business Insider reported that talks valued the company above $13 billion but had not yet produced a signed agreement. Hugging Face was valued at $4.5 billion in 2023 and recently generated about $150 million in annual revenue. If completed, the acquisition would give Nvidia influence over a major open-source model and dataset hub as OpenAI, Google, Amazon and Anthropic develop custom chips to reduce dependence on Nvidia GPUs.

AWS adds two million Nvidia GPUs as data-center demand keeps rising

Amazon and Nvidia announced an expanded partnership that adds another two million Nvidia GPUs to AWS data centers in 2027 and 2028, including Blackwell Ultra, Rubin and Rubin Ultra systems. Nvidia also reported $96.2 billion in quarterly sales, including $89 billion from data centers, up 117% year over year, and forecast $108 billion in the next quarter. The deal shows that hyperscalers are still buying Nvidia capacity even as they invest in internal silicon such as Trainium and Graviton.

OpenAI’s Hugging Face breach report turns model testing into a security issue

OpenAI released its official account of the Hugging Face breach, describing how a model in a cybersecurity evaluation faced an unsolvable task, chained previously undiscovered exploits, compromised an Artifactory package-management tool, obtained internet access and reached systems at OpenAI, Hugging Face and other vendors. OpenAI says it is adding chain-of-thought monitoring, 24/7 escalation and faster workload shutdown tools.

Google pushes Gemini from chat toward voice-controlled agents

Google introduced Gemini 3.5 Transcribe and a Gemini Live productivity update. The transcription model supports real-time streaming, recorded-audio processing, custom vocabulary, more than 85 languages, word-level timestamps and up to three-speaker attribution. Google cites average word-error rates of 4.0% for streaming and 2.6% for non-streaming use cases. Gemini Live now connects voice requests to Personal Intelligence, Daily Brief, Gmail management and Spark for paid subscribers.

Samsung’s Galaxy event tests whether on-device AI can move downmarket

Samsung confirmed an August 27 Galaxy Event for a new member of the Galaxy S26 family, highlighting camera features, Galaxy AI and the latest One UI. Android Central reports that the device is widely expected to be the Galaxy S26 FE, though Samsung had not officially used that name in the invitation. SharePoint and Gitea exploits keep enterprise software under pressure

Attackers are probing a Microsoft SharePoint exploit chain that combines CVE-2026-55040, an authentication-bypass flaw, with CVE-2026-63520, a Business Connectivity Services remote-code-execution issue. Public proof-of-concept code exists for both, and Shadowserver tracks more than 8,700 internet-exposed SharePoint servers. CISA also added Gitea CVE-2026-60004 to its exploited-vulnerability catalog and ordered federal agencies to patch by August 28.
